Blogging is a profession. So, you should do it the right way. Your vision should be clear. Everything should be planned well. The topics you will write on. The length and the posting schedule. How you will monetize your blog? You should leave no stone unturned. Thanks for posting in such an important topic. Thank you for your comment and visit. Hope all is well with you 🙂 Natalie Quinn Reply I really appreciate this post, I have wondered/worried about how to reconcile the little experience I have with the idea of teaching others, and this post (and in particular the movie reference) really has got me thinking in a different way than I have been. Thanks again! Lesly Federici Reply Hi Natalie, I believe there is an audience for everyone. Try not to over-think things. Just be yourself and share. I appreciate your visit and comment 🙂 Sazia Reply Hi, Great tips shared that’s true readers must feel comfortable while they visit the website. Sazia recently posted…Cavities How and why do dentists fix cavities for children Barb Reply Thanks for an interesting post! The Menu cleanup point has a lot of potential to help the blogger get clarity on the purpose of the site. You make some good points here. Thanks! Rosemary Reply I do agree that clean and tidy blogs are much easier to read. I find I’ll click away if the text is splattered with adverts so that it becomes difficult to read. And I particularly hate the ones where an ad opens just by rolling over it when all you’re trying to do is to carry on reading the article underneath! Well said Joy Healey Reply Hi Lesly, Must confess I probably have too many ads in my sidebars – I try to have a prune every so often. The problem with posts being updated is that when I go to comment on what I think is a new post, often I read to the bottom and find I’ve already commented some months ago. I suppose one way round it would be to have an updated post, linking to the older post – but I guess that could get messy. I so love how your blog looks! I’m not remotely artistic 🙁 Joy Healey – Blogging After Dark Joy Healey recently posted…ClickFunnels Competitor: Another Way To Earn Free Rosemary Reply We all have our down days. Rosemary recently posted…10 Brilliant Reasons to Challenge Yourself Kathryn Reply A good suggestion I got from a friend was to write one positive thing that happened to you that day. Put the note in a jar and just keep adding to it. When times get hard read your good things messages and you will see that your good times out weigh your bad. Don’t let them get you down! Joy Healey Reply Hi Lesly, When I get stressed by lack of progress, I try to remember “Let go and Let God”. My ‘success journal’ is kept online in a free app called Simple Note, then it’s always with me, whatever the device I’m on, and it’s easy to update. And, thanks for your complement about my artwork. I’m adding more images on Getty these days. Glad you found the suggestions helpful. Philip Verghese Ariel Reply Hi Lesley, It’s Indeed a great joy to be here again after a small gap. Good to read your blogging experience, and valuable tips and suggestions made thru this post. I wonder, on the suggestion about the cluttering of your side bar. Infact, side bar helps the bloggers to monitor their blog if one not using it I am sure that will be a great loss. I am sure most of the bloggers main purpose is to monitize their sites and make money out of it. What’s your take on this Lesly? Best Regards ~ Phil Lesly Federici Reply Hi Philip, Great to see you again and appreciate your comment. I am anti-sidebar. Bloggers, in my opinion, should think of visitors first by offering a visually stress free website. Meaning – content clarity, easy navigation and easy to read. Sidebars can be confusing and it’s been shown that there is something called “Sidebar blindness” and the sidebar is ignored. I also don’t think visitors buy anything from the sidebar. People buy from people they know, like, and trust first. There are many other ways to monetize/promote a product. I like using a plugin that inserts an AD within a post. I like simplicity in promotion. Too many ADs can make visitors leave a website because it’s visually overwhelming. Sidebars can come in handy if you’re creating a course, or linking to another section of your blog IF the theme has custom sidebars 🙂 Rosemary Reply Yes, I do love your illustrations. They really make it look different. Rosemary recently posted…10 Brilliant Reasons to Challenge Yourself Rosemary Reply Keto seems to work really well for some people. I found it appalling. I got such bad cramp that I felt really frightened. It’s just too scary for me. It seems to be a great way for some people to lose weight though. I also generally restrict carbs during the day, but do eat them in the evenings. There are a number of dietary approaches that work, though, as long as you mostly eat natural, whole foods. I know several people who have done well with the keto diet for relatively short periods of time. Yes, some of the things you mention are helpful. But when it comes to digestion and sugar, time is needed to digest food, and sugar. Intermittan fasting is a good way to go. David Reply Yes, most people don’t realise how long it takes to digest food. And they spend far too much time in the fed state. Your digestive system needs a rest at times. Lesly Federici Reply Sazia, Wonderful to see you visiting and thank you for your comment! Glad you liked the article and got some ideas 🙂 Rosemary Reply I do think it’s the small changes to your diet that make a lot of difference to your overall wellness and health. Yet everyone seems to want to jump into a diet and expects results in 10 days. Diets are a long term thing as well as a method of losing weight and the long term changes are the more important for health and longevity. Joy Healey Reply Hi Lesly, I too started writing about technical stuff – early on, before I realised I had only an inkling of the really clever techniques that the real pros were writing about, far more proficiently than I ever could. Do instead I blog about the only thing I have experience in – starting an online business, making mistakes, learning from them and picking up the pieces, starting over again – but wiser this time! Joy Healey – Blogging After Dark Lesly Federici Reply Hi Joy, Appreciate the visit – thanks! Oh I know, a lot of us bloggers make the same mistake.. it takes time to sort it all out and create a blog that truly reflects you and your knowledge … 🙂 Joy Healey Reply Oh dear, that instant gratification thing 🙁 About 5 years ago I was sure I was going to be an instant blogging success – well, the $40 course I bought promised I would be! Sadder and wiser now, still plodding on – but learned a lot. As Donna says, having an offline business helped remind me that common sense didn’t fly out of the window because you put a website online. I agree, there are so many “Blogging Guides” enough to give a new blogger a headache! I try to keep things simple 🙂 Joy Healey Reply Hi Lesly, I just love the updated look of your blog:-) You’ve given us some very good tips for planning a new website, wish I had had them on the couple of occasions when I just scrapped old sites – although I must confess I’m not sure they were worth saving LOL Once I lost a couple of sites because there was no backup. I thought my hosting company was doing the backups for me, but they forgot!! Can you believe it? The hosting company I’ve been with for a few years now does it automatically. Such a relief. Joy Healey – Blogging After Dark Lesly Federici Reply Hi Joy, I LOVE that you love my website. It’s been an exploration for sure! I have to say I really have a good hosting company. I’ve been with them for over 10 years and NEVER had a problem with them 🙂 Marilyn K Foster Reply I love the Candy Store analogy too! I have found so much of myself in what you wrote. We can learn by studying other sites and seeing if they are easy to read. I know for myself this is important or I get bored and move on. I am going to start writing with intention to always give my readers something they can take away from the post. Dexter Roona Reply Awesome post-Lesly with great tips. Where are these watercolour images coming from, are they stock photos…. also tweeted this post l;-) Lesly Federici Reply Hi Dexter, The images are my own 🙂 watercolor images I create then upload .. have to make more .. thanks for visiting and your comment 🙂 Joy Healey Reply Haha Lesly, I had to smile at your ‘Candy store’ experience of blogging, because I certainly can relate to that when i started out blogging. My initial blogs were truly AWFUL, because i followed the wrong advice. I had four of the wretched things, all at once, and I just couldn’t keep up. I distinctly remember looking at one of them and thinking what absolute drivel it was (and the other 3 were as appalling). It was almost a relief when they were hacked into oblivion. The next stage was that I had three pretty decent ones (in the health niche) but I still couldn’t keep up – all the more so because I was producing well researched articles. Finally, I enjoyed the process of ‘learning to run an online business’ more than the health niche, and ended up with my current ‘online business related’ blog. (Well, there’s another one too – but let’s pretend that’s not there! So, yes, I’m still ‘winging it’ but far less so than in my early days. Joy Healey – Blogging After Dark Angela Giles Reply Hi Lesly, This is a good article. I’ve been thinking about digital magazines for some time now. I thought it is hard to make one, but after reading this article I realized that is easy. Thank you for the tips. Dexter Roona Reply It has been a while since I last visited your site Lesly and it has a new and very good feel about it. I agree with everything in this post, Free is 100% not better and you will go made starting out. Some of us don’t recover from that 😉 Joy Healey Reply I too love the power of words and the use of adjectives – the deliciousness, as you so eloquently say. I will try to include more adjectives to improve my writing as sometimes I think I can be a bit too factual 🙂 Joy Healey – Blogging After Dark Lesly Federici Reply Hi Joy, Adding emotion and descriptive words cam enhance an article. As Humans we respond to emotions, not always facts, believe it or not 🙂 Appreciate your visit and comment , thanks! Angela Giles Reply Hi Lesly, I agree with what you said that “First, know thy purpose of your website.” I love all the tips especially the “teaching and creating courses”. Thank you for this simple, easy to understand article and inspiration. Have a wonderful day! Angela Joy Healey Reply Hi Lesly, What a great and motivational post. Thanks. I’ve maintained my weekly (or more) posts for a while now, and I’ve also implemented the RankMath plugin that you and Kathryn told me about in your group. So I’m looking forward to seeing some improvements. Yes, it’s funny how some bloggers sail-away and others (like me) sometime feel we’re treading water. I will take seriously the blogging recipe you gave us, and try to add a little more spice:-) Joy Healey – Blogging After Dark Lesly Federici Reply Hi Joy, So glad you found this post useful. I think Rank Math is a really good plugin, better than Yoast, and I’ll be sharing info about it because it can be confusing at first .. you’ll learn a lot with it. Appreciate your visit, thanks 🙂 Rosemary Reply Some people I know regularly do curated blogs: ie they put together an article with links to lots of other articles. Paper.li is one programme that people use. But I’ve noticed that it’s better when people move away from that and make their own. It imprints their brand on it (which as Kathyrn tells us is very important too!). I do put interesting articles on my FB page, as a kind of inspiration, but have never aspired to a magazine! You make it look easy, Lesly, but I’m sure it’s not! Lesly Federici Reply Hi Rosemary, It’s really not difficult when you have the right tools. I just couldn’t see paying for a magazine creation platform. It’s my own creation. And yes, the more you brand yourself the better. People will remember you. You have a gift to bring humor and fun into your writings. We all have a gift to share. Keep at it 🙂 appreciate your visit Joy Healey Reply Hi Lesly, I just love your new look website. Would that I had some talent to showcase 🙂 You make a good point about exploring the facilities within your theme rather than using an outside company. I know my theme can do a lot more than I ask of it, but I find it quite complicated. However, I have started exploring more of its features. Thanks for the inspiration to find out more features. Joy Healey – Blogging After Dark Lesly Federici Reply Hi Joy, It’s good to explore your theme and its features. Themes vary from one to the other. If you have sidebars you can customize, you can do a lot with them. My free mini course “Your Course” is about that. Whatever I can do on my website without paying for something additional – that’s what I look for to do. Thank you for the compliment and your visit :-):-) Kathryn Maclean Reply Hi Lesly, I liked your article outlining your new venture. Happy to be a member! Encouraging the blogging community to join. I don’t think I feel ” like a dinosaur ” using the classic editor. I am not a fan of the Guttenberg drag and drop. I liked the “Introvert and Extrovert” explanation relating to blogging. Introvert – Writing from an internal view. Knowing what they are writing about. I do get the sign up for my Newsletter mistake- Working on a lead magnate to replace that! The Extroverts approach lists, teaching, PDFs and explanation of content, quizzes I am working on. “The “Inner Circle” is just for those bloggers who are more serious about growing their blogs and generating traffic to it.” Great! Rosemary Reply Phil, I really agree. My WP site has a great spam filter, although I have to say I don’t know how it works. The problem I’ve encountered recently is getting spam through the contact form. Any suggestions as to how to stop that (apart from no form)! Thanks guys. Lesly Federici Reply Hi Rosemary, I know it’s really irritating/ I just delete the comments as they come. I also got rid of my Contact page. Will Banks Reply Thx for sharing this information, it’s much appreciated. It’s also interesting to note you run an ad free site. Have you published your rationale for this, it would be interesting to read? Lesly Federici Reply Hi Will, Sorry for the delay in responding to you. I just redid my blog theme. Actually I do have adsense. It just wasn’t working when you visited. I embed the ads in my post. Not to many though because they can be overwhelming to a visitor 🙂 appreciate your visit! Will Banks Reply Excellent initiative, Lesly, and very well presented. I wish you every success with it. Lesly Federici Reply Hi Will, Thank you for reading about the Daily Blog Share Inner Circle, I’m excited about it! Join us? Philip Verghese Ariel Reply Hi Lesly, Glad to be here again! I like this post as you are really encouraging the blogging community with a lot of tech and solutions in the ever-growing tech industry in relation to blogging. The Guttenberg edition indeed looks like a good one, but I am still afraid to enter in, once I tried and found a lot of error and felt that its not a user-friendly one and I switched back to the classic one. I am still in confusion, Lesly, is it compulsory to shift to Gutenberg edition by all WP users? Or shall we continue to go with the classic one? Would like to know what difference it makes? I hope you will explain these in another post or in this response box here. I really like the “Introvert” and “Extrovert” explanation in relation to blogging, a very interesting one with an interesting illustration, hey, who did that illustration? You? Thanks for your time Thanks for adding my web link to the new venture. Let’s move on and bring in some vital or solid results. 🙂 Keep sharing Best Regards ~ Phil Lesly Federici Reply Hi Philip, Sorry for the delay in replying to you. I was changing my theme when you posted :-). It seems that “Drag and Drop” block theme designs and editors are trending. But honestly I don’t see WorpPress’s Classic Editor going anywhere. MILLIONS use it and it’s a choice. There’s a learning curve and I have another website where I’m testing it out. So I say – stick with what you have and what works for you. Yes, I did that drawing to explain my concept of “Introvert and Extrovert” blogging .. glad you liked it 🙂 I appreciate your visit.. thank you Marilyn Reply All of this makes my head spin. Having said this and being ADD it takes some time to absorb. The concept is great. I just have to get some confidence built up. I am a blog about Home Keeping and Self Care. Many in the Inner Circle write about subjects that are hard for me to understand making it difficult to comment. (I am giving you my honest opinion and hope there may be some others that feel the same way.) I have added Self Care to my website and am excited about it because through my journey I have found they go hand in hand. I want to introduce concepts that most don’t think of. Now this thing about Guetenberg (sp) is new to me. I am still struggling to find a theme I can get comfortable with that goes with my subject. Having said all of this I do intend to join the Inner Circle but not until I get a better understanding so I can write content on a weekly basis. Lesly Federici Reply Hi Marilyn, I know this is a lot to digest. Love all your ideas. Take one day at a time. When you’re ready I’ll go over everything .. I appreciate you <3 Marilyn Reply Sounds good. Let’s touch base next week. I work over the weekend and will have to stay in town because of the upcoming snowstorm. Rosemary Reply Some great tips if you’re a beginning blogger. On my list is to work up the nerve to create a video. Like all these techy things, easy when you know how and daunting in advance. Lesly Federici Reply Hi Rosemary, You can do it! There are so many ways to make videos. You don’t even have to be in them. So .. try. I understand how you feel. I was the same way. Once you start you get comfortable with it … I appreciate your comment and visit, thanks! Joy Healey Reply Hi Lesly, Thanks for linking to my blog and publishing my testimonial. It’s so true – I was getting very depressed about the quantity of spam / worthless comments on my blog as opposed to genuine ones. In fact I was on the point of following the example of many influential bloggers, and – reluctantly – turning off comments completely. I had completely lost interest in so many blog posting groups on Facebook, because it really was just pointless. However, I am looking forward to more interaction with the group Lesly has set up. There are already some very experienced bloggers within, offering help and advice to. Joy Healey – Blogging After Dark Lesly Federici Reply Hi Joy, Thank you! For all your support. Interaction is so important and necessary to be online. I’m hoping good things come from this group… Thank you for being a part of it. Appreciate your visit and comment 🙂 I see a difference too … Philip Verghese Ariel Reply Hi Lesly, What a joy to be part of this new venture, I appreciate your efforts to pull in more members to the community with your natural style of presentation thru video as well as blog texts. Great going Lesly, I am also back to pavilion after a bit backsliding. 🙂 I fully agree with Joy, sometimes it really gets irritated by the flow of spam comments in our dashboards. but Joy, my sincere suggestion is that, it is not advisable to close the comment box completely. instead, use some good comment plugin like CommentLuv, etc. In fact, comments are the backbone of blogging!! I am sure Lesly will join me here! 🙂 Keep going, and keep trying and try to cop up with the new technologies! LOL 🙂 Good day. ~ Phil Lesly Federici Reply Hi Phil, Thank you for the compliment … backsliding is okay! Sometimes we need a break and it’s good to take one. I don’t advise closing the comment box either. It’s saying “NO” I don’t want to hear from you. I just delete the spam. The plugins do what they can, but some still slips by .. just delete. Avoid letting it build up … Rosemary Reply That’s a really nice infographic. Interesting to see the correlation between frequency of posting and ranking. Lesly Federici Reply Hi Rosemary, There are many visual learners out there, right? So infographics do well. And yes, the more you post the better the ranking. Thank you for stopping by and your comment 🙂 Reginald Page Reply Starting an online digital magazine is not as easy as so many think. For one to create such a platform, so many things are required which includes 1. Sourcing for contents to create that will be attractive and same time keep people coming coming back. 2. Getting the required traffic, because without people reading your contents or visiting your platform, then the platform is dead already because at the end, you have done nothing despite the whole effort spent on creating the platform and lastly 3. Been able to maintain the running of the platform. Am glad with the steps you have outlined here, such as creating a PDF documents and promoting it via email and this is going a long way to help me and other people wish to trade this part. Lesly Federici Reply Hi Reginald, It’s very easy to create your own magazine! I do it monthly now :-). I tried platforms and they cost monthly. I think it’s far better to use your blog to promote what YOU create. Traffic will be better because people come to YOUR website instead of those other magazine platforms 🙂 Thank you for visiting and your comment Rosemary Reply I really appreciate the psychological benefits of belonging to a group. Thanks Lesly Lesly Federici Reply Hi Rosemary, There is strength in numbers and this is one of the best ways to build a following and visitors to your blog 🙂 Thank you! For joining 🙂 Rosemary Reply Lots for newbie bloggers to get their teeth into here, with some names I hadn’t come across before. Thanks. Lesly Federici Reply Hi Rosemary, If you have questions about any of these names , just ask .. I know, lots of new things. I keep it simple …. Joy Healey Reply Hi Lesly, That’s a great idea. I actually use a paid service at the moment that gives me a very good ready made newsletter that I can also use as content for my blog, so it helps me out when I’m stretched for time producing content. I’d never thought of producing my own newsletter (as opposed to mailing my blog out to my list with auto-responder)… interesting idea to add to the never ending to-do-list LOL. Joy Healey – Blogging After Dark Lesly Federici Reply Ji Joy, Yea I used 2 magazine services and just didn’t want to pay for it when I saw what they offered. Canva offers printing hardcopy as well. I just think it’s a better way to build your brand on your own terms .. 🙂 thanks for visiting and your comment! Joy Healey Reply Hi Lesly, I can only echo what you said! As one who made every mistake in the book, trying to blog alone, it’s much better to blog as a part of a community. I learned so much from more experienced bloggers rather than trying to go to alone. Joy Healey – Blogging After Dark Inioluwa Olaposi Reply It can really be tiresome to start up a blog hoping to make money as a newbie. Of course, a blogging community can really help. Lesly Federici Reply Hi Inioluwa, Thank you for your visit and taking the time to comment! I appreciate it. If you’d like me to review your website, for free, I can give you some suggestions to implement on your blog. Blogging is a never ending project, but a useful one to reach out to the world. Kathryn Reply Good advice to those starting out with blogging. We all did the wrong way when we started out because we didn’t know any better. Learning from Lesly who has been there and done just about everything blogging will be such a help. Lesly Federici Reply Hi Kathryn, Thank you for visiting and your comment. Thank you for the complement too. I’m still learning as we all are, right? Hope all is well. Much love to you… Donna Merrill Reply Hi Lesly, Great advice especially for the new blogger as well as us that have been around the block. Its so difficult when we are new, we have to not be shy and ask questions because bloggers love to help other bloggers. No matter how great your company is, always have your own blog for reasons down to road. You don’t want to loose the blog if the company goes out of business. Also having your own blog gives one more credibility and also can make money in many different ways. -Donna Lesly Federici Reply Hi Donna, Appreciate the visit and comment, thanks! I can understand starting out using a free blogging platform – I did. But soon I realized I couldn’t post or promote certain things. There’s so much to learn … and I’m still learning … lol. Forever too … Lesly Federici Reply Thanks, I hope you use this one 🙂 Jeanette S. Hall Reply Lesly, This post gave me the kick in the butt I needed to start giving my blog attention even if only once a week! Thanks I needed it. Lesly Federici Reply Hi Jeanette! Great to see you .. It can be quite costly if you look to outside programs to do what you want when many you can find plugins that will do the same. So I’m always looking for solutions to keep visitors on my/your site longer. Kimberly Nickson Reply Sounds like a pretty nice home spa routine. I use organic virgin coconut oil for just about everything…the stuff is amazing! Lesly Federici Reply Hey Kimberly, Great to see you visiting! I use coconut oil too. The more basic and natural the better … 🙂 Donna Merrill Reply Hi Lesly, Stem then extract is a wonderful facial regiment. I was just thinking of purchasing an “extractor” myself. Next time I go shopping I will. This clinched it! I rather do my own facials than have it done professionally. I did go to a professional on and off but had a bad reaction to the stuff they used. I like natural stuff like coco butter, because it seems to work well for me. I love this post! -Donna Lesly Federici Reply Hi Donna, Wonderful to see you visiting, thanks. Gosh, I have spent so much $$ on “Beauty” products and I just found doing it myself is the best. I spent $75.00 on a facial where some glop was massaged on my skin then steamed. Heck I can do this. Now I just use 100% Witch Hazel as a facial rinse and coconut oil for a moisturizer. Then the steamer and extractor once or 2x a week. That’s it/ I also to fascia blasting – that’s a whole other topic. You can find out about this on Facebook – “Ashley Black Guru”. Joy Healey Reply Hi Lesly, I am trying my own modification of eating within a smaller window of time as it does make sense. I reduce carbs as much as I can but my grand-daughters have just left and the house is full of kiddy food – LOL Joy Healey – Blogging After Dark Lesly Federici Reply Hi Joy, LOL. That’s life for ya… it makes sense to give your body time to heal … wonderful to see you visiting 🙂 Janice Wald Reply Hi Leslie, I did not know about Rank Brain. I like the checklists you showed very much. RankBrain is comparable to Yoast which I use. Is there a reason you use this instead of Yoast? Question: Do you use a Table of Contents plugin? Which one? I’m concerned it will slow down my site. Janice Lesly Federici Reply Hi Janice, Thanks for your time and stopping by! I think “Rank Math” is more comprehensive, more visually accessible, and generous with keywords. It has an option to transfer Yoast info to Rank Math without losing info. I don’t use a table of contents. I don’t think it’s necessary. I try to only use the plugins I need and look to blog layout and sidebars to make things easier to find (changing my theme to make things simpler). Yes too many can certainly slow things down 🙂 Kimberly Nickson Reply Hi Lesly! What nice color tips for blogging! The Low Carb Diet Life uses orange and green for their branding strategy. Orange is exciting (as mentioned in your post) and motivational for weight loss while green adds that healthy food flair that is needed. I have been keeping the colors consistent thus far, and now I am glad. Thanks for the nice easy read! Elise L Ho Reply is this the plugin that you were discussing with me last night? Lesly Federici Reply Hi Elise, Yes .. I think it’s the best having used Yoast and others … Sanket Reply This is really great work. Thank you for sharing such a useful information here in the blog. Antonette Bailey Reply Hi, really good article and appreciating work. Thanks For Sharing. Keep up the Good Work and keep writing the wonderful article like this. Elise L Ho Reply A good steamer is a lovely idea. It is funny that you were extra careful to mention the neck and chest as I was just speaking to a 20 something and reminded her that it is super important to moisturize here as it can really show your age. Philip Verghese Ariel Reply Hi Lesly, What a joy to be here again after a gap. Hope everything is going on well with you all. It’s really good to read this post about color and is magical effects on our visitors and clients. Yes color can do a lot with our online business As you mentioned it really matters people’s response towards our sites look and style especially the color.. It is really amazing to note that it does with Google and other search engines responding to what people are looking for – quality content on quality websites. Yes, I agree, an eye capturing site can do a lot with the visitors. They stay back if it’s a pleasant looking one. In short colour can do magic with our sites. In the recent time I published a post in this subject. Will modify it by including this post link shortly. Here is the link for your reference: https://www.pvariel.com/use-color-power-boost-marketing-power/ Have a great day. Happy weekend. ~ Phil Donna Merrill Reply Hi Lesly, Thanks so much for explaining a welcome mat. I’ve seen them on Jeff’s site and Neil’s blog. Now I know how to put one up if I wanted to. -Donna Lesly Federici Reply Hi Donna, Appreciate the comment and your visit. Yeah these welcome mats can be a good marketing strategy zooming in on one message at a time, and creative too – depending on how you use them .. thanks :-). Joy Healey Reply Hi Lesly, Yes, I guess we’ve all seen blogs that are visually jarring. I remember one that was so crowded with ads that I could hardly find the content. I’ll bear your tips in mind, thanks, because I’m not very artistically minded 🙂 Joy Healey – Blogging After Dark Lesly Federici Reply HI Joy, Wonderful to see you visiting, thanks 🙂 Well, it takes time to play around with your blog to get it where you like it. I hope the post was useful – the tips ring true keeping the viewing in mind.. I’m still learning too …. 🙂 Hazel Reply Great suggestions Lesly. Helpful content is great but only if it’s easy to read. Like you say – “first impressions count” and the design has to be appealing and user-friendly too. Lesly Federici Reply Hi Hazel, Great to see you visiting and appreciate your comment, thanks. Well as you know UX is becoming a big deal, so trying to shears the info through examples 🙂 Elise L Ho Reply great suggestions for that blog. The black background really only works with white text and even then I find it a bit obnoxious. Donna Merrill Reply Hi Lesly, First impressions sure do count. I prefer a blog with white space so I can read it quickly and retain what’s written. The example you gave of the black background makes my eyes cross lol. We have to think of what others want to see when they first land on our website. -Donna Janice Wald Reply Gorgeous examples, Lesly. Inspirational! I use Rapidology. It’s free. I have a rocketship optin form that gets people’s attention since the rocket shoots into the air and forms like yours under relevant posts. Janice Erika Mohssen-Beyk Reply True, the first impression is important. If a blog does not look pleasant, nobody will stay to read the content It also has to be easy to read, most people first scan to the post and read what interests them. You have a good example, this really chases viewers away 🙂 Thank you Lesly Federici Reply Hi Erika, Thank you for the comment and the visit! I appreciate it 🙂 Sharon Reply That you. This is such helpful information. Lesly Federici Reply Hi Sharon! Great to see you visiting 🙂 Appreciate your time and comment! How’s your blog coming along? Elise L Ho Reply I love that when you present something new you always take the time to explain it in a clear and concise manner. Plus I love Neal Patel 🙂 Lesly Federici Reply Thank you Elise! Glad you found the information helpful 🙂 Thanks for the visit and comment! Janice Wald Reply Funny Lesly! My favorite part was the zombies! I’m writing a similar post about blogging passion. Janice Lesly Federici Reply LOL .. lots of zombies out there .. look forward to reading your upcoming post! Appreciate the visit and comment 🙂 Janice Wald Reply Hi, I like the tip about backing up your content. I almost lost data this week– stressful! Janice Erika Mohssen-Beyk Reply Hi Lesly, looks beautiful your new blog. Your tips are helpful as well. For me especially the one you said save your content 🙂 It still takes me a long time to create a post and sometimes I look at the old ones and make them better. Thank you Sharon Smith Reply Great advise. Thank You Lesly Federici Reply Hi Sharon, Thanks for viting and taking the time to comment. How’s the blog coming along? Marilyn K Foster Reply I love this theme! Anxious to get mine switched. Need to find a photo. Lesly Federici Reply I like it too .. we’ll get you set up! 🙂 Marilyn K Foster Reply This is definitely something I want to use in the future on my website. I love these tips! Currently I am trying to create some products so I have something to sell. I have written 2 ebooks so far and finishing up on my 3rd which will also be available for print. Lesly Federici Reply Hey Marilyn, Great to see you visiting! Yea, little tips like this can be very helpful and save you some frustration! Sounds GREAT about the books! I’m looking for a solution to promote my books too .. I’m thinking now Amazon is the best way … I think … Monna Ellithorpe Reply Hi Lesly, Great post. I also believe eliminating some posts and pages is a wise thing to do. You can use this avenue to feature something you want to be seen more than other articles or pages. Thanks for sharing and showing how to do this. Lesly Federici Reply Hi Monna, Great to see you! How goes things? Yea, this is one of those tidbits that is hard to figure out on your own so glad to share it! Kathryn Maclean Reply Hi Lesly, My friend, it all boils down to not listening to that incessant inner voice that tells you that you will never win. Finding the inner strength every day in yourself is truly what matters, not the voices and opinions of others. Enjoy creating your beautiful art, oh that’s an opinion of mine that you may take to heart. Marilyn K Foster Reply Sorry that happened to you. The thing is the comment was more about him than you. Instead of asking a few questions about your work, he made the rude comment. Most likely the reason for it was he didn’t understand your art and that is what comes back to asking questions. I LOVE your Art! Joy Healey Reply Hi Lesly, What a shame that thoughtless comment discouraged – but I know just how often it can happen. So glad you’re back and using your talent again because I think your style is amazing. I can relate to it somewhat, as I was very discouraged with blogging and Internet Marketing about the middle of last year. However, now I’m settled in my new home in Norwich, I have come back ready to pick off where I left off, as you said, but in a stronger place. Good luck to us both 🙂 Joy Healey – Blogging After Dark Barb Reply What a moving post Lesley. I think we all have stories about the impact careless words have had on our self image, and we carry them around for years. I’m happy you’ve found yourself again and that your hard won wisdom will bring even more depth to your art. I can’t wait to see what you create going forward. Lesly Federici Reply Hi Barb, Thank you for visiting and your comment… thank you for the encouraging words 🙂 appreciate it Lesly Federici Reply Hi Joy Thank you for visiting and your comment… life experiences and the interactions with others influence us. Awareness makes us stronger to break apart .. you are doing great too now that your settled into your new home … 🙂 Happy for you! Sarah Arrow Reply Love this Lesly – an imaginary friend for bloggers and marketers <3 Lesly Federici Reply Thank you for visiting Sarah Yes, all kinds of ways to attract visitors 🙂 Bluetechno Reply Forum is the best solution. Very informative. Lesly Federici Reply Bluetechno, Appreciate the visit and the comment – thanks Trupti Patel Reply Hi Lesly, I really liked this post and the way its written is just amazing Thank you for sharing this amazing Article. Lesly Federici Reply Hi Trupti, Thank you for visiting and your comment, I appreciate it 🙂 Erika Mohssen-Beyk Reply Hi Lesly, I like the change and your blog of being you 🙂 Thanks for all the work you did in PAC and for bringing me on the blogging path. Let’s keep following our intuition and heart, it will guide us right. Erika Lesly Federici Reply Hi Erika, We’ve known each other a long time .. seen you grow so much with your writing – remember when? Thank you for the PAC complement 🙂 Yes, time to explore my personal passion – art… yes, we will keep following our hearts .. it’s always right… much love to you my friend 🙂 Ryan K Biddulph Reply Amen Lesley. Our intuition Knows. Perfect. Fool proof. I blog from within, using logic here and there, but honoring my heart, my intuitive nudgings, to stand out. Lesly Federici Reply Hi Ryan, What a plesant suprise to see you visiting! Thank you, I appreciate it, Honoring your intuition, and listening to it always guides you. I blog from within too 🙂 Donna Merrill Reply Hi Lesly I love your intuition! and creativity to make your blog be unique and totally YOU. Sweet 🙂 -Donna Lesly Federici Reply Hi Donna, Hey you, great to see you visiting 🙂 Thanks .. Finally I am being me … PAC helped me get there … yes, sweet 🙂 Donna Merrill Reply Hi Lesly Sounds like an interesting undertaking, for sure. I look forward to seeing how things work out for you. Implementation… yes, instead of planning… just do it. I like the concept. -Donna Lesly Federici Reply Hi Donna, Thanks for visiting and your comment – appreciate it. Yes, I’ll keep you up to date … Monna Ellithorpe Reply Hi Lesly, I’ve taken some of Ed Dale’s courses but it was so long ago and we know how things change online. I’m really impressed and so happy for your transition to The Artistic Affiliate. You got what it takes. Wishing you great success in 2019. Gaurav Kumar Reply Hi Lesly, A professional or entrepreneur is like a chef who work days and nights to perfect the recipe of his business. When you know which food you want it will be more easy for you to choose the method to cook. In blogging business also one should follow this advice. Lesly Federici Reply Hi Gaurav Wonderful to see you visiting .. thank you! Yes, we are Chefs .. it’s a great way to look at a business I think … Annette Rose Reply Awesome post, great way to think about things. Lesly Federici Reply Hi Annette, Wonderful to see you visiting, thank you! It is a great method to implement for sue… Sharon T McLaughlin Reply Thanks for always providing valuable information. This is on my to do list. Lesly Federici Reply Hi Sharon, Thank you for visiting and your comment. I’ll be sharing more about this in future posts … Donna Merrill Reply Hi Lesly, I love the line: “be a consultant, not the seller” because this is the only way we can connect to others. Once a connection is formed, then we can pitch our product and/or services. I have to say that in all the years of offline and online business, word of mouth was my strongest point of sale. Whenever someone comes to me by someone else, a connection is immediately made before we can say hello. -Donna Lesly Federici Reply Hey Donna, Wonderful to see you visiting and thank you for your comment 🙂 I absolutely agree with you about word of mouth marketing. It very reliable and powerful! Davida Chazan Reply Well, as they say… everything old is new again! Barb Reply A very helpful post Lesly, i’ve bookmarked it for later. With not having much knowledge on the Keto diet I found your post intriguing. Lesly Federici Reply Hi Davida, How very true! Thank you for visiting and your comment 🙂 Johanna Galyen Reply I\’ve heard so much about Keto and it is good to hear from people who are doing it and experiencing positive results. I have experienced positive benefits with intermittent fasting; the more I stop eating after 7pm at night and don\’t eat again till late morning, I feel so much better. Protein drinks are difficult for me, but eating fewer carbs and sugars means I don\’t feel so bad. It is about learning the right balance, and not a heavy leaning on sugar and carbs. ~ Johanna Marquita Herald Reply Fascinating to read your perspective on the Keto diet, Lesly. I’ve read articles – pro and con – about it and have to admit it sounds interesting. I was an emotional eater when I was in school and as a result pretty chunky (okay, fat) by the time I was 18. From that point, I spend the next decade on one diet after another, losing and gaining weight like the proverbial yo-yo. Eventually, I learned what works best for me is simple portion control combined with sensible eating. Like anything in life, I think we each have to find our own way, so I’m glad this nutrition plan is working so well for you. Lesly Federici Reply Hi Marquita, Wonderful to see you again. Yes, everyone must find their own way when it comes to dieting and making life changes. It’s important for me to share the “mechanics” of how Keto works and how excessive consumption of carbohydrates can lead to health issues such as diabetes. Thank you for the comment and your visit 🙂 Johanna Galyen Reply As a writer myself, I love reading about writing! Silly, I know, but it can be so much fun to be reminded of how expressive the english language can be with adding some really cool adjectives. My recent favorite is “ameliorate”. Similar to the idea of helping, treating, curing – but that word just makes stop and think…and google it!! Thanks so much for sharing! ~ Johanna Erika Mohssen-Beyk Reply Hi Lesly, I love learning new adjectives and know it makes a big difference when we use them on the right spot. Always searching to make writing better.Using words that grabs the readers interest is an art. Thank you Erika Lesly Federici Reply Hi Sandeep, Thank you for the visit.. the fonts I use are: Architects Daughter, Actor, and ABeeZee 🙂 Annette Rose Reply Love it!!! Letting personality shine is important. 💕 Lesly Federici Reply Hi Al, I appreciate the visit and the complement! Thank you … I agree with you.. quality and I’ll add your writing style – how you use words is another factor. Hope to see you again! Monna Ellithorpe Reply Hey Lesly, I like your video on this page and also your message. I think having your own course on your own page makes a lot of sense. No one can tell you how to do anything. Lesly Federici Reply Hi Monna, Yea.. anything we can create on our own without spending a lot of money is best .. the internet is getting expensive! Thanks for the visit 🙂 Gaurav Kumar Reply Hi Lesly, The best way to do something is always the way you want. But, the same time learn from the mistakes and update yourself. Lesly Federici Reply Hi Rachel, Wonderful to see you visiting, thank you. I like your philosophy! Life, business .. it is an adventure and a good way to look at it that way Erika Mohssen-Beyk Reply Hi Lesly, This is a truly helpful post and it is right, do it your way. I remember when I started you told me the same. And I saw and experienced seeing others doing the same and it works. What you say that people socialize with people not with links is true. A lot changes in the last years. I remember there was really a lot of crap in the past. Good to see the internet is becoming more human. Self-branding only can work if one does its own thing in its own way. Great post, helpful not only for beginners. Thank you Erika Lesly Federici Reply Hi Erika, You have come a long way .. so inspirational to see what you’ve accomplished and you only get better and better … 🙂 Bill Fonda Reply I find my best stuff is about either my own experiences or relating my own experiences to something. Sure, it’s self-absorbed (but then again, so am I! LOL), but otherwise, I’d be talking about the same stuff as everyone else. Lesly Federici Reply Bill Lol… i enjoy your posts.. so keep being you .. that’s what matters 🙂 Lesly Federici Reply Hi Rachel, Yes I got your comment 🙂 I was seeing a professional but it got to costly. Now I do this facial treatment at home, weekly with good results. It only takes a week for the pours in your skin to get clogged with dirt, dead cells, etc. So my skin is smooth and brighter. I can feel the difference … thanks for stopping by – appreciate it … Dr. Erica Goodstone Reply Lesly, On this summit all the speakers took their health into their own hands and became their own advocate – and healed. Dr. Erica Goodstone Reply Lesly, My A1C was slightly high. Never bought a glucose monitor but I am very aware of my food intake. Still have desserts but carefully selected and less often. It is so important for each of us to take on the challenge of handling our own health and preventing our conditions from worsening. On my summit, which starts tomorrow, 24 healers share about the different ways they have personally healed – and none of the healing was instant or easy. Each person had to diligently do the research and checking and make the needed changes to heal. Warmly, Erica Lesly Federici Reply Hi Erica, Wonderful to see you and thank you for your comment. Yea, the medical community … well you just have to be your own advocate these days. Exciting! Another summit! 🙂 Johanna Galyen Reply Lesly, Its true. Changing our body’s norms takes time. A lot of time. I’m thrilled to see your levels going down. Sugar is one of my weaknesses too. My hunger for sweet tea and a piece of chocolate cake are my downfall. But then occasionally my toes fall asleep, and I’m reminded that if I don’t get my act together, permanent numbness could be the result. Thankfully my fasting glucose is 95. Not perfect, but enough to make me realize that I can do better. Thanks for sharing, and I’m cheering you on in your journey! Lesly Federici Reply Hi Johanna, Thank you for visiting and your comment, I appreciate it. It’s a way of life no longer a journey. 95 is good! The point of this article is changing what you can. Your “downfalls” are okay every now and then so enjoy. But sugar really can lead to so many health problems over time. Nancy E. Head Reply And I was already on a sugar guilt trip. I don’t just have one sweet tooth. All of my teeth cry out for sugar. I limit myself to three times a week and try very hard to keep away from foods with added sugars. It is my vice of choice. Thanks for more info to try to keep me on the straight and unsweetened, but healthy pathway. God bless! Lesly Federici Reply Hi Nancy, Great to see you visiting, much appreciated. Sugar is certainly seductive, right? It was a struggle for me, but I’ve been able to walk away from it. My age has a lot to do with the change – I refuse to grow older and be ill. There are many things we can control which will be healthier – this is one. Sounds like you’re doing your best in your own way which matters most. Jeanette S. Hall Reply I need to do something with my face, Never considered a facial because I am allergic to EVERYTHING! Doing on myself, will allow me to select the products I use on my skin. Definitely saving this post! (Going to share it, too!) Lesly Federici Reply Hi Jeanette, Thank you for the visit and your comment – I appreciate it. Yes, easy to do at home and I did this for the same reason – to use my own products and not be swayed to purchase anything new… lol Jeanette S. Hall Reply Hate to hear you have problems with reactions to products like I do! Wouldn’t wish it on an enemy. Yet another reason I do not want to have kids from my body. I remember breaking out in the hives all the time when I was little. Donna Merrill Reply Hi Lesly, With the world like it is today with information at our fingertips, using our phones, etc. our mindset can shift to that instant gratification mode very easily. But that’s our mind playing tricks on us lol. Things take time as you mentioned above. If we give ourselves that time, we can be successful in what we set our goals to be. Oh that weight thing!!! I was always skinny and all of a sudden I gained weight. I go to the gym, eat properly and hardly ever cheat, but it is taking time…more time now considering my age. We have to factor all that stuff in so we won’t give up. When it comes to business, I’m pretty fortunate that I had an offline business before the internet days. I knew the rule of thumb for an ROI was two years. It took me sooner than that, so I do still count those blessings. Now online, I keep on track and don’t give up. -Donna Lesly Federici Reply Hi Donna, Thank you for the visit! I know you share the same thinking .. so much in common. No, never give up .. explore, discover, implement, but never give up.. much love to you 🙂 Monna Ellithorpe Reply Hi Lesly, Love the new blog look. The post is so 100% true. We know in our minds that not everything can be instant or fast like the internet but we still continue to think that way. When I’m having a rough day, my first thought when I go to do something is how long is it going to take me? I’ve started taking your advice again and using the timer. I know it works and I don’t know why I’m so stubborn at times but I got more work done yesterday than I have in a long time (using the timer). I have been doing better for myself too. I started back on my diet and I take more breaks than I used to and my mind doesn’t feel as cluttered as it used to be. Thank you so much again for being persistent in your wise advice. Love ya and have a great weekend. Lesly Federici Reply Hey Monna, I swear by the timer.. I may be nuts, but it really works and frees the mind. You sound like you’re getting things together .. happy for you … Naveen Sharma Reply Hi Lesly, Very useful article. Panning a new website is a complicated task. But the four tips you have given based on your experience are the most important things to take care of in this planning. Planning a new website will become far more manageable using these tips. Saving all our content is extremely important because one wrong click can mean years of work lost. Similary choosing the right theme in terms of appearance and technicality is very important. Thanks for sharing your valuable experience with us. Have a great day! -Naveen Lesly Federici Reply Hi Naveen, Thank you for the visit and your comment, appreciate it …glad you got some useful information from this post 🙂 Monna Ellithorpe Reply Hi Lesly, You’re doing a fantastic job on your new blog. Starting new has its challenges but it also has its perks because you have so much more knowledge now than when you started way back when. Have fun with it. That’s what I’m doing with mine this time. Lesly Federici Reply Hi Monna, Sorry for the delay .. yes, finally enjoying this blog .. it’s me. You’ll get there – blogs are always changing to reflect your own personal changes and experiences… appreciate the visit … 🙂 Leave a Comment!
